Five details to check before you pay for a transcript

Names, recipient addresses, reference numbers and more.

Transcript application fees are rarely refundable. Before completing payment on your school portal or bank branch, review these 5 critical checkpoints:

1. Name consistency

Ensure the name on your student file matches your passport and evaluation profile. If you have married or changed your name, include legal documentation (marriage certificate, deed poll, gazette).

2. Matriculation or Student ID number

A single swapped digit can send your application to the wrong department archive, causing weeks of unnecessary delay.

3. Degree year & Department

Verify whether your final senate approval year matches what the registrar has in the archives.

4. Recipient details & reference tag

Double-check the exact mailing address or receiving email, plus evaluation reference codes.

5. Retain all transaction proofs

Always save payment receipts (Remita, Interswitch, card confirmation PDFs, bank teller numbers). The transcript office will require proof of payment if any query arises.
